ATA Launches Center for Digital Excellence (CODE) to Accelerate Digital Integration in Care Delivery
Washington, D.C. – December 12, 2024 – The American Telemedicine Association (ATA) today announced the launch of its new ATA Center of Digital Excellence (CODE), an innovative alliance with leading health systems dedicated to advancing the integration of digital care pathways to support patients through their healthcare journeys. By convening health systems and digital health leaders, CODE will drive the development and implementation of best practices prioritizing patient-centered care, equitable access, and improved clinical and operational outcomes.
The ATA’s CODE is a landmark initiative uniting health systems dedicated to leveraging cutting-edge digital tools, technologies, and services to enhance workflows, better engage more patients, and improve healthcare accessibility. Founding members include Intermountain Health, Mayo Clinic, MedStar Health, Ochsner Health, OSF HealthCare, Stanford Health Care, UPMC, the VA’s Strategic Initiatives Lab, and West Virginia University Children’s Hospital —all recognized leaders in digital care delivery innovation. CODE members will collaborate on initiatives that address key areas such as chronic disease management, telehealth expansion, patient engagement, and workforce optimization, as well as contribute to publishing workflows, success stories, and benchmarks that will shape best practices and maturity models in digital care delivery.
“The ATA is uniquely positioned to create a new era of collaboration within healthcare, convening our leading members and top health systems within CODE, to actively partner to establish models that will streamline the digital patient journey and improve care delivery nationwide,” said ATA CEO Ann Mond Johnson. “We are thrilled to have these renowned health systems on board, setting the standard for how innovation and technology can enhance and extend the delivery of equitable, quality healthcare.”
Moving forward, CODE will add additional health systems and clinical leaders to the roster and hold regular summits and events to foster knowledge exchange, showcase successful case studies, and share practical guidance with the broader healthcare community.
Elissa Baker, BSN, RN, an established advocate for digital health transformation, has joined the ATA as Senior Vice President, Digital Strategy and Clinical Innovation, to spearhead CODE’s launch and engagement efforts. She will work directly with CODE members to set the agenda, objectives, and strategies that will position the center as a vital catalyst in reshaping the digital care delivery landscape.
In addition to CODE’s founding health system members, Access TeleCare and AvaSure have joined as founding sponsors, bringing their expertise and insights to strengthen CODE’s product development knowledge base and support its mission to advance digital health solutions across care settings.
