Access TeleCare president/CEO Chris Gallagher, M.D., spoke with the Iowa Hospital Association on the transformative power of telemedicine to address disparities in treatment and specialty care access.

According to data from the Health Resources and Service Administration, 60% of the areas in the United States that are designated as “medically underserved” are rural. In addition, nearly a quarter of rural Americans say access to good-quality hospitals and doctors is a challenge for their community. This is a common story among healthcare practices nationwide. Using real-life examples, Dr. Gallagher discusses telemedicine as a solution to the access problem and examine the financial impacts a telemedicine program can have on a hospital’s bottom line.
