National Healthcare Quality Week is a great time to honor the critical role of Quality within Healthcare and raise awareness of the enormous impact professionals working in Quality have in their organizations, their communities, and across healthcare.

Healthcare Quality Week is gaining recognition as a driver of healthcare excellence, reduced costs, and improved care & outcomes.

Access TeleCare is committed to high quality and safe patient care delivery as evidenced by our continuous accreditation with Joint Commission (JC), and as a Patient Safety Organization in good standing. The adoption of the National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ) framework internally aligned to the eight quality domains and competencies required for a high-functioning quality program.

Access TeleCare aligns its patient care and monitors data with the Institute of Medicine’s (IOM) definition of quality, “the degree to which health services for individuals and populations increase the likelihood of desired health outcomes and are consistent with the current professional knowledge.” IOM’s six domains of quality include care that is:  safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable and patient centered.

Access TeleCare was the first telemedicine organization to earn JC’s Gold Seal of Approval® in 2006 and has consistently maintained the accreditation since. The standards are informed by scientific literature and expert consensus to help health care organizations measure, assess, and improve performance. The next evolution to telemedicine was JC’s Summer 2024 launch of their new telehealth (TEL) accreditation. Of which, Access TeleCare’s Quality and Safety leadership was an invited member of the standards development advisory panel, continuing to lead the way in accreditation readiness and adoption. We’re an active Patient Safety Organization which allows us to conduct joint Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and safe tables with our client partners to improve the quality and care we provide to our patients. Additionally, we collect, monitor, and continuously improve care and safety through our patient safety event reporting process.

There are numerous ways we collaborate with our partner facilities on quality initiatives. These examples include:

  • Oversee providers required professional practice evaluations (PPE), under purview of credentialing by proxy (CBP), eliminating administrative burden on medical staff offices (MSO).
  • Assist and support onsite teams with accreditation visits such as Joint Commission (JC) or Det Norske Veritas (DNV), and program specific certifications such as JC’s advanced stroke certifications.
  • Dedicated Physician Medical Directors internally who attend hospital and medical staff committee meetings such as infection prevention, antibacterial stewardship, sepsis, utilization review, and Medical Executive Committee.
  • Provide program outcome data to demonstrate the value and results of clinical programs aligned to healthcare equity standards.
  • Provide education on a variety of clinical topics to promote clinical and professional development with our sites.

There are numerous ways we collaborate with external agencies on quality initiatives.
