The webinar also featured specific discussions around the advantages Access TeleCare’s telemedicine programs brought for behavioral health and neurology care for UnityPoint Health System hospitals.

With timely access to behavioral health specialists through Access TeleCare, UnityPoint Health reduced ED boarding and wait times, while also improving ED throughput and the patient care experience. For neurology, one of the system’s hospitals saw a more than 300 percent increase in neurology revenue, as the hospital transfers fewer patients because it can provide a higher level of neurology care with Access TeleCare’s neurologists.

Key learning points from the webinar include:

  • A review of common hospital pain points regarding physician burnout, workforce shortages, specialist availability, access to care and timeliness of care — and how telemedicine can help.
  • The value of telemedicine in rural and urban communities, covering multiple hospital service lines, specifically neurology and behavioral health.
  • Insight on how to implement a telemedicine program with best practices.
  • A review of real-world case studies to understand the impact of a telemedicine program on hospital finances and patient outcomes.
